Certification
Certification as a surgical technologist by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist (LCC-ST) provides evidence to employers, healthcare professionals and colleagues that the surgical technologist has been educated to provide safe and competent care in the operating room and also demonstrates mastery of knowledge in the field of surgical technology. Students are strongly encouraged to take the examination shortly after graduation. Students who pass the certifying exam may use the initials CST to designate their status as Certified Surgical Technologists. Certification is valid for six years and may be renewed either through continuing education or reexamination.
Associate Degree Option
Graduates of the BHSN Progam of Surgical Technology who become certified may be eligible for college credits toward an Associate Degree in Science in the field of Surgical Technology. Contact the Program Coordinator for details.
