Hospice
The term "hospice" (hos-pis) refers to a concept of care designed to provide sensitivity and support for people with advanced life-threatening illness. Hospice means hope, help, and caring with compassion.
In the hospital, three hospice suites are available in the Norma F. Pfriem Cancer Center. In these special suites, patients and families can remain together 24 hours a day. Each suite includes a patientīs room and a living room with a sleep sofa, private bathroom, and television. Families can use the kitchen in the Cancer Center to prepare meals.
Additionally, the Norma F. Pfriem Cancer Center is affiliated with community visiting nurse services either to coordinate inpatient hospice care or to support patients and their families in their own homes. |
