Treatment

Bridgeport Hospital and The Norma F. Pfriem Cancer Center offer a variety of methods for treating cancer. Our healthcare providers work together to select the best method or combination of methods for each individual, so that we can get our patients back to living their lives as soon as possible.

Treatments include -

	surgery (mastectomy; breast conservation; neurosurgery; thoracic, colorectal, thyroid, and pancreatic surgery, and other types)
	radiation therapy (external beam, radiopharmaceuticals, radioactive seed implants and brachytherapy techniques)
	chemotherapy (conventional and experimental)
	vaccines (anti-idiotypic antibodies available through clinical trials)
	lymphedema management program
	intrathecal, intravesicle, and intracavitary infusions of chemotherapy
	hematopoietic growth factors (erythropoietin, colony-stimulating factors)
	high-dose chemotherapy and bone marrow/peripheral blood stem cell transplantation via a close affiliation with Yale Cancer Center
	pain management program that enables our patients to work with our team to manage their pain
	a variety of clinical trials, available to patients who meet the required criteria
	coordination of home care services for patients and families
