Program Objectives
	To select students with high moral character and intellectual ability who have a desire to study anesthesia and advance nurse anesthesia into the future.
	To provide a curriculum embracing the academic and clinical experience necessary for the practice of anesthesia at the Masters Degree level.
	To develop in our students the moral and ethical framework necessary to become patient advocates and professional partners.
	To instill in our students the need for continuing education as the foundation for advanced nurse practitioners.
	To provide a collaborative multidisciplinary practice setting that will develop a strong professional identity as a nurse anesthetist.

Mission
The mission of the Fairfield University & Bridgeport Hospital Nurse Anesthesia Program, under the auspices of both Bridgeport Anesthesia Associates, PC and Bridgeport Hospital, is to provide the solid clinical and academic foundation necessary to produce competent professional practitioners. This environment promotes continuous evaluation and self-improvement toward excellence in patient care.

Philosophy
It is the philosophy of the Fairfield University & Bridgeport Hospital Nurse Anesthesia Program that in order to create a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with professional integrity and excellent clinical skills we must provide the opportunity for growth and development in a safe, progressive environment of academic and clinical instruction.

Professional Conduct
It is the Program's policy to encourage the highest standards of conduct within the Hospital, University and the Community. Graduate students, as citizens, are subject to all federal and state laws in addition to all Program regulations governing student conduct and responsibilities. Students in violation of conduct policies may be subject to disciplinary action or dismissal.

Academic Integrity
Academic honesty is essential for maintaining the relationship of trust that is the foundation of the educational process. It is a standard of ones profession. Both the Program and the University hold this standard in high regard. Violation of academic honesty will result in sanctions imposed under the Program and/or University's disciplinary system. The outcome of this behavior may result in a failing grade, suspension or dismissal from the program.

Student Benefits
During the first semester enrolled in program, students follow the Fairfield University academic calendar.

   First Year (June 1-June 1)
   A mandatory 10-day vacation is scheduled at the end of the academic Fall    semester.

   Second Year
   Vacation days may be requested for time off between June through the following    April. No vacation time will be granted in the month of May. Unused vacation days may be forfeited.

Additional Benefits
BAA will provide life and malpractice insurance and parking during the students enrollment in the Program. Health insurance may be purchased through the University.

Leave of Absence
Students requiring a leave of absence (LOA) for medical or personal reasons will be reviewed on an individual basis. LOAs will be reviewed and granted/or denied at the discretion of the Program Director.

Student Employment
Due to the heavy time commitment, the Program discourages student employment. Students who have an employment commitment must establish work schedules that do not conflict with Program responsibilities. These responsibilities include clinical and academic attendance and performance.

RN's may not be employed to practice anesthesia at any time during their enrollment in the nurse anesthesia program.
