  • Imaging services technologists assist physicians and other healthcare team members in the diagnosis and treatment of a patient's disease through the use of radiography, fluoroscopy, radioisotopes, computerized tomography, sonography and interventional radiography. Patients include infants, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. The department of Imaging Services operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week, providing about 90,000 exams each year. The department is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the American College of Radiology and is licensed by the state of Connecticut and the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

    Pharmacists collaborate with the medical team in developing treatment plans for the thousands of patients who rely on advanced care at Bridgeport Hospital.

    Nutritionists and dietitians play an important role in helping patients to heal and to adopt healthy lifestyles-including a healthy diet-to stay well. Dietitians are an integral part of the care team, working with cardiologists, oncologists and other specialists to restore and maintain health. They work closely with cardiac rehabilitation patients and are also a part of many community programs offered by the hospital.

    Respiratory care practitioners help Bridgeport Hospital patients of all ages who suffer from a variety of chronic lung conditions, from children seen at the Pediatric Asthma Center to people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Our goal is to promote health and restore quality of life.
