The work environment and hospital culture
Each year, Bridgeport Hospital recognizes those employees whose years of dedication and service have earned them the respect of their colleagues. In this day and age when people move frequently, it's not unusual to find Bridgeport Hospital employees who have been here for several years.
The hospital is large enough to provide plenty of opportunities for career advancement and growth, yet small enough to feel like home. Our generous salary and benefits package, and a tuition reimbursement plan, make us an attractive choice. Many nursing students at our school of nursing choose to remain at Bridgeport Hospital upon graduation.
Bridgeport Hospital is the largest in Fairfield County and offers services available at no other hospital in the area - a Burn Center, a 20-bed Newborn Intensive Care Unit, the only Level I (most advanced) Trauma Center. Nearly 200 surgical and medical residents rotate through the hospital each year, learning how to become the next generation of expert physicians. Medical research into new drugs takes place here, as does open-heart surgery. Yet Bridgeport Hospital remains small enough so that the employee at the front desk knows your name as you walk into work each morning.
