Hemorrhagic Stroke
Type of stroke caused when an artery carrying oxygen-rich blood to the brain is injured so that blood leaks into the brain, causing severe damage.
Symptoms:
If you or anyone you know experiences any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately! The faster you get help, the less brain damage may occur and the more complete the recovery may be.
- sudden weakness, paralysis, or numbness in any part of the body
- inability to speak, or altered or slurred speech
- sudden turning of the eyes toward one direction
- nausea and vomiting
- difficulty walking
- irregular breathing
- stupor (inability to respond fully to what's going on)
- a headache that may be very severe ("the worst headache in my life")
- loss of consciousness
- inability to look at bright light
- stiff neck
- dizziness and confusion
- seizure
