Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)

"Mini-stroke"; a brief episode in which blood is blocked from part of the brain; often a warning of more serious strokes to come. A TIA lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes, with a full return to normal.

Symptoms:

If you or anyone you know experiences any of the symptoms below, call 911 immediately. The faster you get help, the less brain damage may occur and the more complete the recovery may be.

  • blurred vision
  • slurred speech
  • numbness, paralysis
  • fainting
  • weakness on one side of the body
  • transient loss of vision in one eye
