The emotional, behavioral and psychiatric health needs of adolescents and their families are unique and are best cared for in a specially designed treatment program.
The REACH Adolescent Service – part of Bridgeport Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry – is and Intensive outpatient program designed to meet these needs. This three-day-a-week afternoon psychiatric treatment service, located in a special facility separate from the hospital, is for adolescents between 13 and 17 years of age. Family involvement is highly encouraged. Attendance in a weekly family meeting is required.
The Program is designed to reduce the need for hospitalization, decrease residential placement and assist in keeping families intact by providing intensive, acute care that is accessible to families in the greater Bridgeport area.
The REACH program is staffed by a team consisting of a psychiatrist, APRN, psychologist, social workers, psychiatric nurses, therapeutic activity therapist and support staff. Services are covered by Medicaid and most commercial insurance plans.
Additionally, as part of Bridgeport Hospital (a member of Yale New Haven Health), the program has ready access to a variety of other medical and rehabilitation specialists and nutritionists.
Adolescents may be referred by schools, clinics, physicians, DCF and other healthcare providers. Parents may also make direct referrals to the program.
For more information, or to make an appointment, please call the Adolescent Clinical Coordinator at 203-384-3377.
