It's summer, and you'd love to get away for a break— a week at the cottage,
a weekend in the city, or maybe just a day at the beach. But who
will visit your mom and keep an eye on her? She's still pretty independent,
but a bit frail, and getting so forgetful. She needs someone
to make sure she takes her pills and eats healthy
meals. Plus sometimes she gets a little lonely. You feel
like you just can't get away.
United Visiting Nurse Association is here to help.
United VNA offers a Summer Respite Program that
can be tailored to your needs, to help you get some
relief from being a caregiver.
A Home Health Aide can be arranged for as long as
needed—on an hourly, daily, or live-in basis. This person
will help with personal hygiene, meal preparation,
light housekeeping, and medication reminders—not to
mention providing friendly companionship!
Especially useful is the Live-In Home Health Aide.
"A Live-In would reside with your mother and be
available for 10 hours a day of intermittent care,"
explains Tara Nykaza, RN, Director of Private Duty
Services. That means you can take your break knowing
your mother will be well cared for.
And if necessary, United VNA can also arrange
transportation for doctor appointments, outings, and
other local needs.
