Alan Kaye, MD, FACR, Chairman of the Radiology Department, is the initial honoree of the newly established Famous Alumni of the Radiology Residency Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kaye was recognized as a thought leader in the specialty, his contribution as a visiting professor there, and his involvement in the American College of Radiology (ARC), a nonprofit professional medical association. He is a member of the ARC Board of Chancellors and several commissions, and a former speaker.

Ram Gordon, MD, a member of Cardiac Specialists, part of the Northeast Medical Group and Yale New Haven Health System, is the senior author of a study in the July 2013 issue of the American Heart Journal that evaluated the cholesterol-lowering effects of red yeast rice and phytosterols, two very popular alternative supplements for lipid-lowering, combined with lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise. Darcy Harris, DO, Emergency Medicine, is among the nominees for the 2013 Dr. Melville G. Magida Award. Dr. Harris was nominated by her colleagues for the prestigious award, presented annually by the Fairfield County Medical Association and The Rosenthal Family Foundation, which recognizes a young physician (39 or younger) demonstrating notable patient care, physician leadership and service to the community. The award recipient will be announced later this summer.

Dr. Harris received her DO from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital.
