|YNHHS announces two potential alliances|
YNHHS has signed a letter of intent to create a new strategic partnership with Vanguard Health System, combining YNHHS’s world-class quality of care, access and efficiency and Vanguard’s management expertise, resources and capital. YNHHS and Vanguard would remain separate organizations but would:
- Create a new company dedicated to aligning selected hospitals and physicians in the region.
- Establish a model allowing YNHHS to compete in the rapidly changing world of health care.
- Allow YNHHS and its delivery networks – Yale-New Haven Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital and Northeast Medical Group – to remain not-for-profit.
On August 8, the Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN) announced a separate letter of intent to explore an affiliation with YNHHS and Vanguard Health System. ECHN, a non-profit healthcare system, serves 19 eastern Connecticut towns, including Manchester Memorial Hospital, Rockville General Hospital and other affiliates.
The Vanguard/YNHHS strategic partnership would purchase ECHN and invest the capital necessary to ensure its delivery of care. Vanguard would manage and operate both hospitals. YNHHS would provide ongoing clinical support, as well as quality and service line management. See details on the Intranet.
