Registration for Epic Training Begins

After more than two years of planning, the Epic electronic medical record system is installed at two Yale New Haven Health System hospitals. Greenwich Hospital launched Epic in April 2012 and Yale-New Haven Hospital in February 2013. Bridgeport Hospital moves toward its September 21 “go-live” date.

Epic training registration has begun at Bridgeport Hospital. Training is required for all Medical Staff and affiliated members unless they are “Refer and Follow” staff members. Physicians earn CME credits for every hour of Epic class time, which is usually eight hours for inpatient care but will vary depending on the physician’s specialty. Besides classroom time, online modules can be completed in advance of instructor-led classroom sessions. After in-class training, the “Epic playground” offers physicians the chance to practice computer skills, review class examples and become more comfortable with the system.

If you are a provider who already uses Epic in your practice, you only need to take the courses related to your inpatient work at the hospital. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis, so please sign up as soon as possible. Registration for training is via skillport at http://ynhhs.skillport. com. Training is on campus. If you have problems with your user name or password, call 203-384-3742 (EPIC).
