|Stroke Initiative Earns Top Award|
Kellie Geanuracos, RN, Performance Management Coordinator and former Neurovascular Coordinator, who represented the team receiving the top Bridgeport Hospital prize at the Yale New Haven Health System Joseph A. Zaccagnino Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Conference, with Ryan O’Connell, MD, Vice President of Performance & Risk Management, at the May 2 event.
Philip Barasch, MD, Chief of Neurology, and Michael Werdmann, MD, former Emergency Medicine Chair (now Senior IT Medical Director), are members of the team earning the top Bridgeport Hospital prize at the May 2 Yale New Haven Health System Joseph A. Zaccagnino Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Conference. The team initiative, “Reducing the Time to Thrombolytic Therapy (IV-tPA) for Acute Stroke Patients,” involved close collaboration by Nursing, Emergency Medicine, Neurology, Pharmacy and Information Technology Services staff, and improved median delivery time of clot-busting medication to patients by 25 minutes (30 percent) from 2011 to 2012.
