|Remembering Dr. Ahmed Jamshidi|
With sadness we note the passing of Ahmed Jamshidi, MD, cardiologist, one of the founders of Bridgeport Hospital’s cardiology program, which later became the Joel E. Smilow Heart Institute. He was also the founder of the hospital’s cardiac catheterization laboratory and adult and pediatric cardiac clinics, and was the first director of the cardiology fellowship program.
Dr. Jamshidi performed the first cardiac catheterization, coronary arteriography and first insertion of a pacemaker in Fairfield County. In addition, he was an associate clinical professor at Yale University School of Medicine and past president of the American Heart Association Connecticut chapter.
