I want to thank Dr. Robert Folman for the many hours he gave to the Medical Staff Executive Committee (MEC) over the past six years, particularly in his roles as its president and immediate past president.

With sadness we note the passing of Ahmed Jamshidi, MD, cardiologist, one of the founders of Bridgeport Hospital’s cardiology program, which later became the Joel E. Smilow Heart Institute.

Bridgeport Hospital recently announced three new appointments: Umer Darr, MD, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery; Brian DeBroff, MD, Ophthalmology, chief of Ophthalmology; and Alisa Savetamal, MD, Surgery, medical director of the Connecticut Burn Center.

Groundbreaking began recently for the temporary parking lot and construction of the new parking garage at 5520 Park Avenue, Trumbull. This is phase one of the project which will result in the hospital’s new comprehensive outpatient center.

Yale New Haven Health System has refined its mission and vision, and has identified five core values, to guide our organization, provide the framework to anticipate and proactively prepare for the future, and move forward in as strong a position as possible in this enormously challenging environment.

Adam Schussheim, MD, cardiologist, was recently awarded diplomate status by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology, a nonprofit certifying organization dedicated to reducing morbidity and mortality from dyslipidemia and related diseases by assessing qualifications and certifying knowledge in clinical lipidology.

The hospital offers four charging stations for electric vehicles on the lower level of the Emergency department garage. Charging stations are located near the garage’s second- floor stairwell entrance.
