The Joint Commission has certified Bridgeport Hospital as a Primary Stroke Center.

Certification means that Bridgeport Hospital meets strict national standards for providing safe, high-quality care to stroke patients.

Since its inception this year, Bridgeport Hospital’s Stroke Alert process has reduced stroke injuries for patients and Emergency Department clients. One-quarter of these patients received the clot-busting drug tPA (a medication that dissolves stroke-causing blood clots) to minimize stroke injuries.

Bridgeport Hospital has community education programs on stroke prevention and care.

For more information, please call Peggie Parniawski, RN, MSN Director of Medicine, Emergency and Oncology Services at 203-384-3431.
