New, colorful look and features for Bridgeport Hospital pediatrics website

Bridgeport Hospital’s Department of Pediatrics website pages have a brand-new look and enhanced navigation functions. The colorful new pages can be viewed by selecting “Pediatrics” from the Medical Specialties menu at www.bridgeporthospital.org.

Prepared with input from staff and parents, the updated Pediatrics section includes direct links to physician profiles, in-depth information about pediatric services and resources, and a custom welcome video about the P.T. Barnum Pediatric Center inpatient unit for patients and families. The video features comments by staff explaining the unit’s services and its approach to care as well as footage of the staff interacting with patients and parents.

“I was very impressed with the level of care,” says Wendy Bentivegna of Fairfield, a parent featured in the video. “The staff and the atmosphere got my son and the rest of the family through a difficult time.”

Bentivegna was so impressed with the Pediatric Center that she decided to become a hospital volunteer. “I thought as a volunteer I could help other patients and parents,” she says. “I was impressed with the dedication and commitment of the staff and wanted to be part of it.”

Corey Gripp of Stratford is the father of a patient seen in the hospital video.

“My daughter’s care was tremendous,” he says. “Every doctor and nurse who cared for my daughter was fantastic. And I can’t say enough about child life therapist Amy Huff, who was so helpful to my daughter and the other children in helping to pass their time in the hospital.”

The P.T. Barnum Pediatric Center at Bridgeport Hospital is the Bridgeport area’s only provider of comprehensive hospital care for children. It includes the area’s only pediatric intensive care unit, a pediatric asthma center, a children’s emergency center, the highest level newborn intensive care unit in Fairfield County and a wide range of medical and surgical pediatric specialties.
