Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center Earns National Accreditation

The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center has been fully accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) for meeting high standards in patient care quality, patient and staff education and other important areas. The accreditation covers the Breast Care Center’s hospital location and its Beach Road site in Fairfield.

“The Breast Care Center is dedicated to providing comprehensive and coordinated breast care to the community,” says Mary Pronovost, MD, the Breast Care Center’s Medical Director. “Accreditation by the NAPBC lets women know they are getting the best care available locally without having to travel to a larger urban medical center.”

One NAPBC physician surveyor commended the Breast Care Center for its uninsured program, nursing rounds and team approach to ancillary care services. The Center was also recognized for its ability to independently raise funds to support is patient care services.

“The Breast Care Center is unique in having a freestanding site in the community as well as a hospital-based clinic,” says Donna Twist, PhD, the Breast Care Center’s executive director. “We’re so pleased to have both sites recognized by the NAPBC.”

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) is a consortium of national, professional organizations dedicated to the improvement of the quality of care and the monitoring of outcomes for patients with diseases of the breast. The NAPBC is administered by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.
