Buhlmann is a medical technologist in the Microbiology Lab who has been with the hospital for more than 25 years. She was named October’s Employee of the Month. She began as a student and climbed the career ladder from laboratory aide to medical technologist II, playing a leadership role in the Lab. She also assists in teaching specimen collection to new nurses and PCTs. “Laura truly represents ‘Careers for Life’ at Bridgeport Hospital,’” her nominators write.

A nurse on the Richardson 9/Pulmonary Medicine Unit for just one year, Sotire was selected as the November Employee of the Month. He is the unit’s representative on the Falls Committee and has conducted a fall prevention and documentation review class for his co-workers. “Bill responds to all bed alarms to provide support and resources,” his nominators state. “His outstanding performance makes him a role model for those around him.”

Riccio is the administrative secretary in the Department of Medicine. A 30-year employee, she was named Employee of the Month for December. “Elsa works tirelessly to support residents and physicians in the department,” according to her nominators. “She seamlessly ensures that everyone is treated with TLC. In return, they are fully invested in the mission and culture of the hospital.”

Bridgeport Hospital employees of the quarter receive a plaque and a letter of commendation and are eligible to be selected as employee of the year.
