Danbury students hit the runway for Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center

DANBURY, CT – High school students from Wooster School in Danbury raised $9,000 for patient care programs at Bridgeport Hospital’s Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center in their first Catwalk for a Cure fashion show, held Nov. 1. The funds will be used to provide breast care services, including mammograms, to women in need.

Hallie Fuchs and Alexandra Ambrosio (center) co-chairs of Wooster School’s Nov. 1 Catwalk for a Cure, a benefit for the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center, are pictured with Robin Righter (l), development coordinator, and Donna Twist (r), executive director of the breast care center.

The show was the idea of two juniors, Alexandra Ambrosio of Brewster and Hallie Fuchs of Fairfield, who wanted to raise awareness of breast cancer in their community. They worked for months to organize the event with a committee of 30 fellow students.

Several local businesses contributed to making the evening a success. Students modeled clothing from Wishlist, Brooks Brothers, Jack Wills, Wave and Splash of Pink of Westport, and J. McLaughlin of Southport.

“The kids really went all out,” said Robin Righter, development coordinator at the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center. “We are so lucky to have committed young women and men working on our behalf.”

Part of Bridgeport Hospital and Yale New Haven Health System, the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center has served more than 20,000 women and their families since it was established in 1999.
