Administrative and Academic Policies and Procedures
The Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing Administration reserves the sole right to make changes in academic, administrative and general policies and procedures along with readjustment of tuition, fees and schedules at its discretion, with or without prior notice.
Nondiscriminatory Policy
Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing does not discriminate, nor will tolerate from discrimination other disciplines, on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, handicap or veteran status in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs and other programs administered by BHSN.
Criteria for Promotion
- "C" (75) minimum grade in courses receiving numerical grades.
- "Satisfactory" written assignments and clinical performance.
- Completion of required clinical hours.
- Faculty recommendation.
- Completion of standardized tests.
- Successful completion of college co-requisites for student nurses.
- Financial obligations to the School and Bridgeport Hospital have been satisfied.
Attendance
Students are expected to attend all classes, classroom labs, and clinical lab experiences in order to meet course requirements.
Refund Policy
Withdrawal or dismissal from the school within four (4) weeks entitles the student to a proportional refund of tuition. Refunds are granted if the student complies with the School of Nursing withdrawal or dismissal procedure. Federal Refund Policies govern refunds to students who receive Federal Student Aid. Fees, including room charges, are not refundable. The schedule of refunds is as follows:

Proportional refunds of tuition monies are also in effect for those courses that do not meet on a full semester basis. Refunds for withdrawal from college courses are governed by college policy.
Policy For Refunds and Repayments of Title IV Financial Aid
All Title IV recipients who withdraw from BHSN on or before the 60% point of the enrollment period will have a pro-rata refund calculation performed as defined by the Higher Education Amendments of 1998 to ensure that the student receives proper credit and the accurate percentage of unearned Title IV assistance is returned to the appropriate account.
Students withdrawing before the start of classes are not entitled to any payment of Title IV funds. For more information on the policy contact the Education Finance Specialist.
Vacation and Holidays
BHSN follows an academic curriculum plan. Vacations and holidays are granted within the academic year.
Graduation
The Nursing graduate receives the school pin and diploma upon completion of all school requirements. Graduates are eligible to submit an application to sit for the NCLEX Examination for licensure as an RN. The Surgical Technology graduate receives the school pin and certificate upon completion of all school requirements. Graduates are eligible to submit an application to sit for the LCC-ST Examination for certification as a Surgical Technologist. The Peri-operative Nursing graduate receives a certificate upon completion of the course and all school requirements.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
The School conforms with the regulations of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974. This Act provides student access to information about themselves and permits students to challenge information maintained as educational records by the school. Further, it limits the release of such information without student consent.
