Since 1906 the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association has been open to School of Nursing graduates for membership. The Association is a professional organization that provides its members and the School's students with educational and professional support services. The Association maintains a close working relationship with the School of Nursing and fosters its commitment and belief in the School by actively supporting the academic environment. For example, the Association makes donations of educational materials for students to use to reinforce their learning through computer software programs or by sponsoring students to attend the annual Student Nurse Association conventions.
The Association is proud to be affiliated with Bridgeport Hospital and the School of Nursing - the only existing nursing diploma program in Connecticut.
How to Join
Membership requires completion of an application, accompanied by payment of the Association's annual dues of ten dollars. The Association's Treasurer bills for renewal membership in January of each year.
The Association's bylaws requires membership meetings twice per year, once in the spring (April) and again in the fall (September). Meeting dates are announced through our newsletter, which is sent to the Association's active membership by mail or e-mail.
Meetings include dinner and consist of a business session and an educational program. Educational programs focus on a current topic of interest and concern to Nurses and are presented by a professional speaker. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are often available.
The Association offers the Bertha Stiles Scholarship to students currently attending the School of Nursing, and encourages and promotes continuing education in Nursing by offering Continuing Education Scholarships to graduate nurses interested in pursuing a higher degree in the field of Nursing.
The Association is extremely proud of the School's graduates. Gold pins are presented each year to the top two scholastic achievers in the current graduating class.
