Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing (BHSN) offers an intensive course of study in preparation for nursing and perioperative care – surgical technology, perioperative nursing and sterile processing. BHSN, established is 1884, is one of the oldest existing schools of nursing in the country. It is the oldest school of nursing in Connecticut with over 100 years of experience and expertise in the field of nursing education. Generations of nurses have graduated from the school over the years, often making BHSN part of family tradition. Throughout the history of BHSN, the school’s graduates have been recognized for their clinical excellence and commitment to caring.

BHSN’s student body is drawn from a diverse pool of applicants. The school graduates one of the largest classes of nurses each year, comprising over 10% of graduate nurses within the state. The graduates of BHSN have one of the highest success rates in the state for passing the registered nurse examination (NCLEX) which is consistently higher than the state and national average.

BHSN is located on the campus of Bridgeport Hospital, a dynamic full-service medical center, a partner in the Yale New Haven Health System network and a teaching affiliate of Yale University. Bridgeport Hospital is a licensed 425- bed state-of-the-art facility with specialized services in obstetrics, pediatrics, burn care, wound care, surgery, oncology, medicine, cardiovascular care, psychiatry, breast care, rehabilitation, critical care, sleep disorders and community care.
