Health Services
The Industrial Medical Center provides student's initial medical treatment for illness. This service is provided by a licensed Health Care Provider. Continued supervision by the student's primary care provider is encouraged as only minor illness are treated through the Hospital's Industrial Medical Center.
Students must have insurance that will cover them for medical, emergency and hospital care. Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing does not assume responsibility for the cost of emergency care, hospital care, specialized diagnostic procedures and/or treatments.
Student / Employee Assistance Program
Bridgeport Hospital's Employee Assistance Program provides information, treatment and referral services for personal problems. The treatment program is administered by the hospital’s Employee Assistance and Work Life Program.
Academic Advisement
Academic Advisement is available from the faculty to students throughout their enrollment. Students are encouraged to seek advisement for academic and/or personal concerns.
Community
Bridgeport, located on Long Island Sound, is the industrial center of Southern Connecticut. The community offers educational, social and recreational activities. There are churches of most denominations within a short distance of the School. Hospital Chaplains are available for spiritual guidance.
Housing
Housing is available to students in Elizabeth Oliver Hall, 200 Mill Hill Avenue, adjacent to the hospital. Under a special arrangement with the Hospital, students contract for individual rooms. The student complex is protected by closed circuit television and security service.
Commuter Information
Lockers and lounge facilities are provided for students who commute.
Parking is available on a fee basis in the hospital's parking garage. A student is responsible for providing his or her own transportation to classes or clinical assignments outside of Bridgeport Hospital.
Students may purchase their meals in the Hospital cafeteria or coffee shop. Snacks and refreshments are available in Elizabeth Oliver Hall.
