Daneen Grabe and Linda Blackwell will co-chair the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center’s 2012 Rose of Hope Luncheon in June with executive director Donna Twist.

Grabe, the owner and manager of the Little Pub in Ridgefield, is a member of the Breast Care Center’s President’s Council for over five years, has provided major unrestricted philanthropic support, giving the Breast Care Center the freedom to direct funds where they are most needed. Grabe has a passion to care for others that comes out of her 25 years as a massage therapist and her work with cancer patients, including women at the Breast Care Center. For her contributions to the Breast Care Center, she was awarded the Rose of Hope Award in 2010. In the community, she focuses her generosity on health causes.

“The Rose of Hope event encompasses all the things that make the NPBCC such a wonderful resource,” says Grabe. “The event showcases the caring attitude of the organization, the inspiring spirit of survivors, and the enduring hope for others afflicted with breast cancer. The Breast Care Center has grown so much in the last year, with new women’s wellness services. It's an honor to co-chair the 2012 Rose of Hope Luncheon, and I'm excited to work with my friend Linda to make the Center’s major event another tremendous success.”

Linda Blackwell has served for five years on the Breast Care Center’s President’s Council and joined the Board of Advisors in 2011. She has planned many of the Center’s events and is spearheading their new social media initiative. She is active in the Near & Far Aid Association, a charitable group. She is a realtor with William Raveis.

“During the years I have been involved, I have seen the great care given to every woman that comes to the center, without regard to their ability to pay,” says Blackwell. “Having watched my mom and other friends battle through the treatments, I know that for every woman the Center helps, there are children, husbands, friends and families who also benefit because of the special care their loved one has received. The Center’s integrated approach to care helps women address many of their healthcare needs in one place. I am so proud to be a small part of this.”

For the seventh consecutive year, the Rose of Hope Luncheon will be held at the home of Patti and Tom Keegan in Fairfield.
