New Yoga Classes Offered at the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD - The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center has expanded its line of yoga classes to include instruction in two, less common forms of yoga practice. The classes will be taught by instructors Colleee Reilly and Beth Furman, who recently joined the Breast Care Center’s wellness staff. Services are provided in Fairfield at the Breast Care Center on 111 Beach Road.

Kundalini yoga is an ancient technology of yoga exercise and meditation that promotes health, happiness and spiritual awareness. It is a complete science that combines postures (asanas), movement, sound current (mantra), breath (pranayam) and meditation into powerful sets called kriyas. It is designed to provide the students with the experience of the highest consciousness through the raising of their Kundalini—the flow of energy and consciousness that exists within each of us.

The course is taught by Colleen Reilly, a certified Kundalini yoga instructor and a Master Certified Integrative Coach with the Ford Institute. Colleen shares Kundalini yoga methods in a safe, fun and warm environment so students can experience their own dynamic and whimsical spirit to provide deep meaning they can share with the world.

Vinyasa yoga synchronizes movement to the breath. Vinyasa yoga is sometimes called flow yoga, because the poses glide into each other like a dance. In the new Vinyasa classes at the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center, yoga is performed with eclectic music to create vibrant and fun classes for all ages and abilities.

Vinyasa-style yoga classes are taught by Beth Furman, MALS, E-RYT, a certified yoga instructor, who has studied yoga, dance and other forms of movement for over 30 years. She holds a Masters from Wesleyan University, where she concentrated in dance and movement. A continued passion for the healing aspects of yoga fuel her teaching methods, which she hopes will empower students to learn what nourishes their own bodies.
