Getting Back in Step...Cardiac Rehabilitation
Following a cardiac operation or procedure, you may wonder if you will ever be able to regain an active lifestyle. The Healthy Hearts cardiac rehabilitation program gives you the tools you need. Individualized cardiac rehabilitation begins while you are still in the hospital, and continues after your discharge.
Healthy Hearts 2 Program (formerly Outpatient Cardiac Rehab):
This program is for anyone who has had a heart attack, coronary artery bypass graft, angioplasty, or other type of cardiac procedure. Under close medical supervision, you'll join other cardiac patients to exercise three times per week for up to three months at Bridgeport Hospital. The program aims to restore you to your optimal physiological, social, psychological, vocational, and emotional status and help you modify your lifestyle to reduce the risk of future cardiac events. Cardiac rehabilitation is covered by most insurance companies if your physician feels you would benefit from the program. Please call 203-256-5896 for information.
Healthy Hearts 3 Program
Once patients graduate from Healthy Hearts 2, they can enter Healthy Hearts 3 program. This program is geared towards patients who want to continue an exercise regimen on a more long term basis. This program is offered to patients for a nominal monthly fee.
