Dueling Drugs

Check out your medicine cabinet. Are you taking a lot of different medications—prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, herbal remedies and vitamins?

Send for a FREE Medication Form!

Bridgeport Hospital wants to help you keep track of your pills by sending you a form to list what you're taking (medications, herbals, etc.) and the dosages of each. You can also use it to keep track of your allergies, immunizations and other information. It comes with a wallet-sized protective sleeve so you can carry it with you. To get your FREE form, just call us, 24/7, at 1-888-357-2396.

The form is part of a safety initiative taking place at Bridgeport Hospital. Sometimes certain medications don't work well together. They may counteract each other, or one preparation may prevent another from working. Calcium, for instance, interferes with the effects of certain blood pressure medications.

Call it "dueling drugs."

In addition to providing the medication tracking form, Bridgeport Hospital also created a formal process for all of our patients to prevent dueling drugs. When you are admitted to the hospital, transferred from one unit to another and when you go home, all of your medications are carefully reviewed.

We do this because we're dedicated to safe healthcare for our patients and for the people of our community. Whether you're in the hospital or out, we want to make sure that your medicines are working to help you, not fighting against each other.
