For Wounds That Won’t Heal

Complete Healing is Possible

You—or a loved one—no longer need to live with fear, isolation and lifestyle limitations from a wound that won’t heal on its own. The Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine at Bridgeport Hospital can change your life!

Our wound care specialists will work closely with you and your physician to bring you complete healing and a return to your regular activities.

Hyperbaric Wound Care

When paired with traditional treatments, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can help heal certain types of wounds. Breathing pure oxygen can boost the effects of some antibiotics, activate white blood cells to fight certain infections and promote healing.

The Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine houses the area’s first hospital-based multiplace (multiperson) hyperbaric oxygen chamber, accommodating up to six people at the same time. A certified hyperbaric technician accompanies patients in the chamber at all times for safety and to help decrease feelings of isolation and claustrophobia that some patients experience in single chambers.

The Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine specializes in all types of wounds:
  • Vascular leg wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Venous stasis ulcers
  • Diabetic foot wounds
  • Burns
  • Scars
  • Ostomies
  • Surgical wounds
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Insect and animal bites
