First and Only in New England to Perform Hybrid Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation

In June, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery M. Clive Robinson, MD, and cardiac electrophysiologist Murali Chiravuri, MD, from Bridgeport Hospital’s Connecticut Cardiac Arrhythmia Center performed New England’s first and only hybrid ablation procedure for the treatment of atrial fibrillatio

In hybrid ablation, the cardiac surgeon and electrophysiologist work together to block the electrical pathways in the heart responsible for causing a-fib. In addition, the surgical part of the procedure is minimally invasive, which translates into less discomfort and a faster recovery for the patient.
