Hospital Overview

Bridgeport Hospital is a private, not-for-profit acute care hospital located in Connecticut’s most populous city, primarily serving patients from Fairfield and New Haven Counties. Burn patients are seen in the Connecticut Burn Center—the only burn center in Connecticut—from throughout the state and neighboring states.
Bridgeport Hospital is a member of the Yale New Haven Health System with Yale-New Haven Hospital, Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and Greenwich Hospital, and managed care network participant Westerly (R.I.) Hospital.

Bridgeport Hospital has 383 licensed beds plus 42 beds licensed under Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, more than 2,600 employees, more than 750 active attending physicians representing more than 60 subspecialties, 230 medical/surgical residents and fellows in programs affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine, and more than 280 volunteers and 240 auxilians.

Bridgeport Hospital provides more than 295,000 patient care visits annually, including 18,000 admissions; more than 275,000 total outpatient visits to the hospital (including more than 84,000 emergency department visits and more than 30,000 clinic visits); more than 8,000 SurgEase (same day surgery) visits, and more than 4,500 outpatient rehabilitation initial evaluations.
