The Clinical Experience
Students obtain clinical experience at three approved sites in a 40-mile radius of Bridgeport, Connecticut. The majority of clinical opportunities are at Bridgeport Hospital, parent institution for the program. Students gain hands-on experience with regional and general anesthesia techniques under close supervision of CRNA and MD clinical faculty. In addition to routine cases, nurse anesthesia students gain experience in trauma, major burn and high-risk obstetrical cases. Enrichment rotations are provided at Northern Westchester and Waterbury hospitals. Students rotate these sites at least once during their clinical practica.
Anesthesia services are progressive and dynamic, provide patients with the latest anesthesia practices and services, using our ongoing Quality Management System (QMS).
QMS identifies patient care and practice issues requiring future education and/or skill development and generates staff, faculty and student participation. This promotes continuous improvement in patient care and a stimulating educational environment.
