Tuesday, May 20, 2014

Bridgeport Hospital honored more than two dozen volunteers for distinguished service during its recent Volunteer Luncheon at Testo’s Ristorante in Bridgeport.

“You put patients and families first and enrich their lives with your compassion,” hospital President and CEO Bill Jennings told an audience of more than 120 volunteers and hospital staff members. “I am honored to know you.”

Nine volunteer patient escorts shared a special award for distinguished service – Daniel Cronin of Trumbull, Alicia Curtis and Jack Fisher of Bridgeport, Marlene Dorsey of Milford, Odis Fisher, Patricia Ritchie and Virginia Rogers of Stratford, Julius Muller of Fairfield and Donald Treadwell of Wallingford.

Leading the way with the most lifetime service hours were Joe Mezick of Stratford, 14,500; Mary Ann Peterson of Stratford, 13,000; Gina Ryan of Trumbull, 12,500 and Wilma Andrews of Trumbull, 11,000.

Hospital volunteers contributed nearly 25,000 total hours during the past year, led by those in the Emergency Department, Administration, the Auxiliary Gift Shop and Patient Escort.
