Newsweek again ranks Yale New Haven Hospital among the best for Maternity Care

Wednesday, May 8, 2024

NEW HAVEN, CT (May 8, 2024) Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) has again been ranked among the best maternity hospitals in the U.S. in Newsweek’s annual listing.

The 2024 ratings are based on three data sources: a national online survey of hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals who were asked to recommend top maternity hospitals; hospital performance data related to maternity care; and patient satisfaction data.

“We are delighted to be recognized by Newsweek,” said Hugh Taylor, MD, chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology, YNHH, and chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, Yale School of Medicine. “Yale New Haven Hospital has always been focused on providing top-quality, family-centered care, from pregnancy to the birth experience to home. This recognition validates what our doctors, midwives, nurses and the rest of our team already feel – we provide the best care for mothers and their newborns.”

Yale New Haven is recognized for providing a wide range of comprehensive services that include everything from midwifery to fetal surgery. Learn more at the YNHH Maternity Service.

America's Best Maternity Hospitals that met the minimum thresholds for three data sources were eligible for the analysis. The three data sources used for the evaluation are:

• Nationwide Online Survey: Healthcare professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about maternity processes e.g., neonatal and perinatal doctors, nurses, and midwives were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals in the U.S.

• Patient Experience Survey: Survey of the overall patient experience in the hospital.

• Hospital Quality Metrics: Indicators relevant to maternity care were considered.

Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), part of Yale New Haven Health, is a nationally recognized, 1,541-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine (YSM).
