Cindi Bigelow, president and CEO of Fairfield-based R.C. Bigelow Tea, co-hosted an afternoon tea for maternity patients at Bridgeport Hospital on Jan. 15 with hospital President and CEO Bill Jennings. A variety of Bigelow teas were served at the event, along with scones, croissants, English tea sandwiches and fresh fruit. Bigelow and Jennings also visited with other patients in the hospital.

“I’m impressed by the way the hospital reaches out to the community to see how it can best serve patients and be the best it can be,” said Bigelow, whose company and family have been longtime supporters of the hospital, especially the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center, which is also based in Fairfield.

Bigelow, who is also a leading advocate for community and employee health, met with several patients and staff members during her visit and discussed the health benefits of tea.

“Tea is a touch point for so many people,” she said.

Bigelow tea is served with patient meals and at catered events at Bridgeport Hospital.

“We are most grateful to Cindi Bigelow, her family and Bigelow Tea for their support of Bridgeport Hospital and the Norma Pfriem Breast Care Center,” said Jennings, who is also executive vice president of Yale New Haven Health System, Bridgeport Hospital’s parent organization. “And we applaud Cindi for being an ambassador of health and wellness in our community.”
