Hardik P. Amin, MD, is a stroke specialist who helps patients and families determine treatment plans for stroke and cerebrovascular disease. “Stroke incorporates both acute treatment in the emergency room and long-term care in the outpatient clinic,” Dr. Amin says. “I follow my patients over the course of their recovery and guide them in the prevention of future strokes.”
Treatment for stroke, including tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and novel anticoagulants for secondary stroke prevention, continue to evolve, Dr. Amin says. “There are still many avenues that need further research, but our ability to diagnose and treat stroke is becoming more and more sophisticated. He works closely with neurosurgical and cardiology colleagues to ensure patients have seamless transitions among different subspecialties.
An assistant professor of neurology at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Amin also researches carotid artery disease and its implications for future stroke. “We offer a variety of clinical trials that are not available at other institutions,” he says.
