Biography
Melissa Durand, MD, is a diagnostic radiologist who specializes in breast imaging, including ultrasound, MRI, mammography, and digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), an advanced form of breast imaging that provides detailed images of the breast to allow doctors to detect cancer as early as possible.
Dr. Durand says her job is rewarding because it is “the best combination of direct patient care, delicate procedure work, and dedicated teamwork.” She tells patients who may need treatment, “You have a great team behind you now, and we are going to work together to make the best possible plan for you.”
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Durand is a researcher with a focus on breast cancer screening and diagnosis with tomosynthesis. She is the recipient of several grants and serves as the Yale principal investigator of a multisite collaborative DBT research group that has co-authored several landmark papers on DBT.
