The cardiac surgeons at Bridgeport Hospital perform the full spectrum of open-heart operations for adults.

Team members include experienced and award-winning Yale Medicine cardiac surgeons, skilled anesthesiologists, nurses, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Our depth and breadth of experience allows us to perform a wide variety of complex operations, such as valve repairs, aortic aneurysm surgery, combined coronary and valve operation as well as reoperative heart surgery. We offer advanced procedures including minimally invasive mitral valve repair, minimally invasive cardiac operations, hybrid revascularization, off-pump coronary artery bypass, surgical ablation (maze procedure) for atrial fibrillation and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Three-Star Rating by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons

Bridgeport Hospital participates in The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) registry, the premier quality improvement registry for cardiac surgery. The hospital has previously been recognized by STS with three stars, its highest rating, in varied cardiac surgery procedure categories, including quality of our Overall Isolated CABG (coronary artery bypass grafting) surgery, and Medications. The Overall Isolated CABG surgery three-star rating reflecting July 2020 to June 2023 time frame placed Bridgeport Hospital among the elite in the United States for CABG surgery. About 20 percent of STS participants receive that rating for such surgery.
