Cardiothoracic surgeons at Bridgeport Hospital provide patients with expertise and experience in complex mitral valve repair, arrhythmia surgery, aortic arch and minimally invasive procedures.
Our cardiac surgical team is made up of surgeons, anesthesiologists, physician assistants, cardiac perfusionists, nurse anesthetists, registered nurses and technicians. After surgery, patients are transferred to our surgical intensive care unit (SICU), where, for the first eight hours, they receive one-to-one nursing care. The ratio is then one nurse to two patients for the entire length of stay in the SICU.
Bridgeport Hospital’s cardiothoracic surgeons are a regionally based, highly specialized team which also operates at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Their high level of expertise provides Fairfield County cardiac surgery patients with a spectrum of advanced procedures at all levels including
- Coronary artery bypass grafts
- Complex mitral valve repair
- Heart valve repairs/replacements
- A wide-variety of arrhythmia surgeries, including pacemakers, defibrillator implants and hybrid ablation
