Cardiothoracic Surgery

Cardiothoracic surgeons at Bridgeport Hospital provide patients with expertise and experience in coronary bypass surgery, mitral and aortic valve replacement along with mitral valve repair, arrhythmia surgery, and minimally invasive procedures.

Our cardiac surgical team is made up of surgeons, anesthesiologists, physician assistants, cardiac perfusionists, nurse anesthetists, registered nurses and technicians. After surgery, patients are transferred to our surgical intensive care unit (SICU), where, for the first eight hours, they receive one-to-one nursing care. The ratio is then one nurse to two patients for the entire length of stay in the SICU.

Bridgeport Hospital’s cardiothoracic surgeons are part of the Division of Cardiac Surgery at Yale School of Medicine and are a highly specialized team which also operates at Yale New Haven Hospital.
