Surgery

Bridgeport Hospital's surgeons have access to the most advanced technology and the latest research. From state-of-the-art robotic surgery for joint replacement to expert burn and trauma surgeons to general surgery focusing on abdominal organs, our physicians and staff work hard to provide patient- and family-centered surgical care for both adults and children.

Surgical Specialties

Robotic Surgery

Many hospitals have similar technology but, what really matters, is the experience of the surgical team.

Our Bridgeport Hospital surgeons are specially trained and uniquely experienced in state-of-the-art surgical techniques, including robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery. Our emphasis is on the most successful surgery with the least pain, scarring and recovery time.

Compared to traditional open surgery, most patients who have robotic surgery for minimally invasive procedures have less blood loss during surgery, a shorter hospital stay, less scarring and less post-operative pain. For many patients, recovery time is dramatically shortened, so most can resume their regular daily activities in about half the time as with traditional surgical methods.

With its flexible robotic arms and sophisticated three-dimensional imaging system, the da Vinci Surgical System allows physicians to perform delicate procedures through tiny incisions with unprecedented precision. The small incisions result in less blood loss, less pain, less scarring and a lower risk of infection.

Milford Campus

The Bridgeport Hospital Milford Campus offers surgery services including minimally invasive and computer-assisted procedures in technologically advanced operating rooms. Procedures include general surgery, gynecology, joint replacement, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, podiatry and urology.
