Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are research studies that test how well new medical approaches work in people. Each study answers scientific questions and tries to find better ways to prevent, screen for, diagnose, or treat a disease. People who take part in cancer clinical trials have an opportunity to contribute to knowledge of, and progress against, cancer. They also receive up-to-date care from experts.

As part of Yale New Haven Health system, Bridgeport Hospital provides our patients with access to cutting-edge clinical trials at Smilow Cancer Hospital. Patients who qualify have access to Phase I, II, and Phase III clinical trials and research focusing on the latest treatment protocols and medications.

Many of the clinical trails are available at Smilow Cancer Hospital locations in Trumbull (Park Avenue Medical Center) and Fairfield. Some clinical trials are available only at a handful of research centers across the county, including at Smilow Cancer Hospital's campus in New Haven. Our local physicians will help refer eligible patients to ensure a smooth enrollment process.
