Office of the Healthcare Advocate Aims to Help Navigate Insurance Plans

Established nearly 25 years ago, the Office of the Healthcare Advocate (OHA) is a state agency that helps Connecticut residents better understand their insurance plans.
The OHA can explain patient rights and offer advice for a number of health insurance situations including:

  • Enrollment, coverage or billing questions
  • Claim denials or pre-authorization issues
  • Explanations of benefits, programs or coverage
  • A summary of the healthcare plans offered in Connecticut
  • Referral and pre-authorization procedures required by your plan
  • Your plan’s internal and external appeals processes

Visit Portal.ct.gov/OHA for more information. You can also contact the OHA by phone at 866-466-4446 or email at [email protected].
