Fr. Adrian Budica

Director, Spiritual Care and Education

Fr. Adrian Budica is an ACPE Educator (Association of Clinical Pastoral Education). He is an ordained priest in the Eastern Orthodox Church. Fr. Adrian has undergraduate and graduate degrees in divinity and in theology (Th. M.) in Romania and in the United States – most recently, St Vladimir’s Seminary (Crestwood, NY). Fr. Adrian has been involved in hospital chaplaincy since 2008. Fr. Adrian began his supervisory education training in October 2012. He supervised part-time, extended and full-time CPE Units at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt and Memorial Sloan Kettering hospitals in New York City, NY. He successfully completed his supervisory training in November 2014 when he was certified as an Associate Supervisor. He became an ACPE Certified Educator in 2015 and a Board Certified Chaplain (BCCi - APC) in March 2017.

Rabbi Nathan Goldberg

Nathan Goldberg is an ACPE Certified Educator and Orthodox Rabbi. He brings extensive experience in chaplaincy and education in very diverse settings. Before joining the department in 2019, he was Manager of CPE at New York Presbyterian, CPE Specialist at Mt. Sinai Medical Center (where he shepherded the CPE Internship, Residency and Supervisory Training from birth through Center Accreditation), Director of Pastoral Care and Education at Beth Israel Medical Center, Jewish Community Chaplain of Greater Kansas City and Coordinator of Jewish Chaplaincy Services at Lenox Hill Hospital (also in NYC). Nathan also has extensive experience with CPE Supervisory Education. He has served for many years on the ACPE National and Regional Certification Commissions and has trained numerous CPE Educators towards successful certification. Nathan has published numerous articles and led workshops at webinars at national and regional conferences.

Nathan received his Bachelors, Masters and ordination from Yeshiva University, where he split time between New York and Jerusalem. He has completed the course work towards a doctoral degree in Adult Learning and Organizational Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Kalu

Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Kalu (“Kalu”) is an ACPE Certified Educator Candidate and Coordinator of Spiritual Care, Milford Campus. She is an ordained minister in the American Baptist Churches, USA. Rev. Dr. Kalu brings experience in ministry, chaplaincy and education from Kenya and the USA. She has a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Yale Divinity School. Chaplain Kalu has been involved in chaplaincy since 2014 (CPE internship), followed by the CPE residency in 2016, both at Bridgeport Hospital. She worked with Vitas Hospice, and as a staff chaplain/ senior chaplain at Bridgeport Hospital (2018), Reading Hospital (PA) and at YNHH (SRC), She returned to BH in Jan 2022. She is a Board-Certified Chaplain (BCCi/APC) since 2019.
