BRIDGEPORT, CT (August 25, 2026) – Bridgeport Hospital is now offering Aquablation® therapy, an innovative, minimally invasive robotic-assisted procedure for men suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate. The first procedures were performed at Bridgeport Hospital following the program's launch in July 2026.
Aquablation therapy uses advanced imaging, the precision of robotics and the power of a high-velocity, heat-free waterjet to remove excess prostate tissue that can cause urinary symptoms and significantly affect quality of life. The treatment is designed to provide long-lasting symptom relief while reducing the risk of certain side effects associated with traditional surgical approaches.
BPH is one of the most common health conditions affecting aging men. Approximately half of men experience BPH by age 60, and prevalence increases significantly with age. Common symptoms include frequent urination, difficulty starting urination, a weak urinary stream and interrupted sleep due to nighttime bathroom visits.
