Bridgeport, CT (February 25, 2026) – Just in time for Heart Month, Bridgeport Hospital’s Heart & Vascular Center unveiled a new state-of-the-art Electrophysiology (EP) Lab to diagnose and treat complex heart rhythm disorders.
Every year, millions of Americans experience arrhythmias, which are irregular heartbeats that can lead to stroke, heart failure or sudden cardiac death if left untreated. The new EP Lab equips our Heart & Vascular Center team with the advanced tools needed to pinpoint the source of these rhythm disturbances, helping physicians identify exactly where irregular rhythms originate and how best to treat them through procedures like cardiac mapping, catheter ablation and pacemaker or defibrillator implantation.
“This level of accuracy and speed in diagnoses isn’t just an advancement in technology, it’s an advancement in patient safety, outcomes and quality of life,” said Samuel Hahn, MD, section chief of Cardiology at Bridgeport Hospital. “Simply put, this lab gives our patients access to the kind of lifesaving heart care they deserve, close to home.”
Launching this EP Lab during Heart Month underscores Yale New Haven Health’s commitment to advancing cardiovascular care and expanding access to leading-edge treatments. It also marks a powerful step toward earlier diagnosis, safer interventions and better outcomes for patients across the region.
“We want to ensure that every patient has access to the highest quality of cardiac care available by providing cutting edge technology for our talented cardiologists,” said Anne Diamond, DBA, JD, president of Bridgeport Hospital. “This investment reflects our commitment to meet our patients where they are, where they live and deliver exceptional care across our communities.”
