Bridgeport Hospital to continue free monthly food distribution through 2022

Wednesday, November 10, 2021

BRIDGEPORT, CT (Nov. 10, 2021) – Bridgeport Hospital continues to help community members gain access to healthy food through a monthly free food distribution. With oversight from the Community Health Improvement Department, this effort provides access to healthy and nutritious food.

Since May 2019, this effort has served over 4,800 local families. Every third Tuesday of the month, Bridgeport Hospital staff volunteer to pack and distribute free bags of food to all those in need. Bags are distributed in the parking lot at 200 Mill Hill Avenue (corner of Mill Hill Avenue and Grant Street) beginning at 5:30 pm. The event lasts until 6:30 pm or until the bags runout. Each bag contains a variety of fresh produce, milk, eggs, bread and other items.

Upcoming food distribution for the remainder of 2021 are Tuesdays, Nov. 16 and Dec. 21. The hospital plans to continue this monthly event through 2022 on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm.

For more information about the food distribution, please contact Gina Smith at (203) 200-3719 or [email protected].
