Now in its 20th year, the Ahlbin Rehabilitation Centers Auxiliary will present “The Enchanted Castle: A Magical Storybook Experience,” Saturday, Oct. 19 – Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road, Fairfield.
With its colorful storybook-theme rooms and friendly costumed characters, the Enchanted Castle provides a non-threatening, entertaining Halloween experience for children and adults. Theme rooms include Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, the Little Mermaid, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Wizard of Oz and Candyland. Hours are:
- Saturday, Oct. 19, Sunday, Oct. 20, Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27,10:00 – 5:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, Oct. 23, Thursday, Oct. 24, Friday, Oct. 25, Monday, Oct. 28, and Tuesday, Oct. 29, 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
School and play groups can schedule visits Wednesday – Friday, Oct. 23 – 25, and Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 28 and 29, 9:00 a.m. – noon. For information, e-mail [email protected].

The Enchanted Castle is co-chaired by Shaun Amberg, Debbie Charles and Kay Smith all of Fairfield. Proceeds from the event will support the following programs at Ahlbin Centers: cancer therapy, Fit and Healthy Kids, music therapy, the women’s health program, specialized equipment and scholarships.
In addition, the Ahlbin Centers Auxiliary is seeking qualified volunteers to fill more than 250 storybook characters roles during the eight days of the event. Adults and students in the eighth grade and up can volunteer for community service by e-mailing [email protected].
Businesses interested in helping to underwrite some of the costs of this year’s Enchanted Castle by becoming a sponsor, may e-mail [email protected].
Ahlbin Centers provides inpatient rehabilitation services at Bridgeport Hospital and outpatient services in Bridgeport, Shelton, Southport, Stratford and Trumbull. Services include physical, occupational and speech therapy as well as early childhood and geriatric programs.
