The Beth Davis Rose of Hope Tennis Tournament at Brooklawn Country Club Benefit for Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Fairfield -- The Beth Davis Rose of Hope Tennis Tournament takes place at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield on September 9, beginning at 9 am. The event, a fundraiser for the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center’s community outreach programs, draws participants from throughout southern Fairfield County. The Breast Care Center has been helping women in the community fight breast cancer for over a decade.

The lead corporate sponsor, People’s United Bank, has sponsored the event for over four years. The Bank, founded in 1842, is a premier, community-based, regional bank in the Northeast offering commercial and retail banking, as well as wealth management services through a network of 418 retail locations in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

“We are so grateful to People’s for their support over the years. Thanks to them, we have expanded our outreach programs and increased the number of women who get their annual mammograms, and have most certainly saved lives,” says Dr. Donna Twist, executive director of the Breast Care Center.

The event is co-chaired by Donna Craft, NPBCC Advisory Board, and Nancy Bento, NPBCC President’s Council. Players come from Westport, Fairfield, Easton, Trumbull, Wilton, Stratford and Weston.

Part of Bridgeport Hospital and the Yale New Haven Health System, the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center has served more than 20,000 women and their families since it was established in 1999. One of only 200 sites accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), the Center provides a wide range of diagnostic care and treatment at its Bridgeport Hospital and Fairfield locations, including medical oncology, surgical and chemotherapy services, plastic surgery, mammography and radiation therapy, and genetic risk assessment as well as opportunities to participate in clinical trials. The Breast Care Center office at 111 Beach Road in Fairfield also provides comprehensive women’s wellness services, including nutrition counseling, massage and Reiki therapy, wig and prosthesis fitting, counseling, yoga, Pilates, naturopathic medicine, and other patient support activities. The Center has a satellite office on Park Avenue in Trumbull. The Center is a member of the prestigious National Consortium of Breast Care Centers.
